My dad had a Ford similar to this one. His was a 1968 Ford Gran Torino. I want to say this is a 1969 and maybe a Fairlane rather than a Torino but not exactly sure. When my dad passed away I ended up giving the car away to a guy that had lived next door. I had already called a junk removal place to come and get the car and Carlos saw the tow truck and was willing to pay the man the $250 he was asking to haul the car away. I had to pay it or be fined by the county and I ended up selling the house too but not until I had cleaned the yard up. This was in Palm Beach County, Florida and they are such sticklers for yard cleanliness. When my dad retired he decided like many retirees that he and my Mom were going to be true snowbirds and travel from Florida to North Carolina twice yearly to take advantage of the warm winter weather in Florida and the cooler summer weather in Asheville, North Carolina. My Dad never thought that at some point he and my Mom would get to a point where their health would no longer allow this. It was my Mom who got sick first. After the third stroke and peripheral artery disease in her legs she could no longer make the 12 hour trip and my Dad finally made the trip on his own but not before the house was broken into four times and someone spray painted the walls black and completely destroyed the place. Eventually, a con man that moved in on my Dad after my Mother passed away went with him to Florida and tried to dictate everything my Dad did. After he passed, I got the responsibility of taking care of this whole mess and the old car was one of them.
Carlos said he would get back in touch with me after he restored the car but I’ve no idea what happened. He never contacted me so I don’t know if he eventually junked the car. My ex husband thinks he somehow got a new title for it. I don’t know about that. That has been almost fourteen years ago. If he were going to contact me for the title he would have done it years ago. I expected him to call me, email me, something within the first year or so bu after that I didn’t hold out any expectation that he would and at some point I lost his contact information.
This old car is parked somewhere in the desert. I’m not sure what state but it is out West somewhere. A friend got the picture from a friend of a friend. And this friend at some point uploaded it to Freepik and from looking at their website you must pay attribution to every photo used. This is not where I got it from. I got it from the friend who said it came from a friend of a friend. As with many photos I’m sent or someone posts on one of blogs or website I use google lens to see if the image has been posted somewhere online because I’ve no interest in being sued for copyright infringement or best scenario, having an angry photographer giving me grief for using their photo without permission. After all, I’ve seen people using my photography without giving in attribution in return and I don’t particularly like it but there’s little I can do about it. Well, little I’m going to do about it. First, I have no idea where they’re located and in many instances the person who swiped my pictures are using a free blog site like wordpress or blogger and I’d have to subpoena WordPress to get the details for the author provided they used their correct information. Once I emailed someone who was using my pictures without permission and they tried to claim it was theirs and I knew it wasn’t and when I looked at the background geographical information for the photo not only did it tell me what camera was being used (I always use a Fuji unless I’m using my phone camera), it said exactly where the photo was taken and the date. Nevertheless, they argued that it was their picture, when it wasn’t and basically said, “take me to court.” I’m just a small time amateur photographer and a small time blogger and video creator. I’m not some big conglomerate who works for an even bigger employer with six lawyers on staff that can actually take them to court regardless of where they’re located. Turns out, they were located in North Carolina which would have been less difficult that first thought but still just as costly and it really wasn’t worth my time. They way I figured it, they’re using photography and maybe even videos from whoever they want (basically stealing people’s pictures) and at some point they’re going to steal from someone who will take them to court and it will cost them a lot of money in copyright infringement fees, court costs and attorney’s fees and they will then wish the had not stolen from just whoever they wanted to because they probably won’t know who they stole from. The point is, it was too costly for me to bother with but it may not be for the next person they steal from.
If I use someone else’s work which I rarely do because I take hundreds and thousands of photos a year so I really don’t need to use someone else’s work but on occasion I will if the post I’m writing requires a picture that I don’t have or have easy access to or I don’t want to spend hours searching for the photo I need. But I always follow the rules and have paid accounts with two of the free public domain companies so I can use their photos. I never take advantage of videos or music. I always use my own or I don’t use it.
Until next time……..My story-page……..UPDATE: I’m moving to a marina on Lake Keowee in Sunset SC, only in a smaller boat, a 1981 Yukon Delta 28 that needs a ton of work…………….I’m Rachel Holbert Jones (XieQi LLC, RavenBlackHeart LLC & RavenBlackbeard LLC), also work for Rizzo REI Partners and this is my story/page: living in Iva, South Carolina (Anderson County), part time in Hartwell, Georgia on my boyfriend’s boat, a 1986 Chris-Craft Catalina 381. I was at the Hartwell Marina which doesn’t allow liveaboards. He purchased a 1996 Holiday Mansion 39 Barracuda, 1977 CHB Trawler 34 (I’m remodeling), 1986 Marine Trader 54 Sunliner that I’m updating, 2018 Sunseeker Manhattan 52, 2001 Nordic Tug 37 and a 1983 Fishcraft 28 (similar to the AdventureCraft 28 I lived on and still call home). I’m also camping at various places, mostly lake campgrounds.****************I still care for my aunt in West Virginia sometimes and hoping not to have to return to Memphis, Tennessee. We are scheduled to move my aunt to Dead Women Crossing, Oklahoma but first it’s to Georgia for the winter & Michigan in the summer. I’m still traveling for work and have been to my Uncle’s ranch in Alpine, Texas to oversee it and the cattle he re-titled in both of our names, Texas Longhorns, Scottish Highlands, Brangus and show horses. He’s also added Bison and Beefalo to his ranch. **************************** For my work travels my uncle purchased a 1995 Ford E-150 Econoline GT Starquest Campervan. I wasn’t sure about an older van like this but the man that owned it had completely converted it with solar power and electrical, it was a good deal. It only has 112k miles. It only has a sealed portable toilet but it is okay because I prefer a public toilet and only use a camper toilet if I’m dispersed camping, at a Walmart or Cracker Barrel. I prefer rest areas and truck stops. For short trips, I drive a car or SUV. *************************** I have an avid love for photography and capturing the essence of old, abandoned houses, allegedly haunted places, classic, antique vehicles, lakes, rivers, nature, museums, art galleries, antique shops, car shows and historical places. I’m not a ghosthunter or paranormal investigator although I’ve had people request me to lead their groups, I’m a legend hunter. I love scary podcasts and spend more time on YouTube or Audible than Peacock or Tubi. I used to watch TV or movies when I stopped for the night but now I usually go right to sleep when I stop and prefer the podcasts of Darkness Prevails, What Lurks Beneath, Swamp Dweller or Red Owl. I like to listen to scary trucker stories too, occasionally grizzly/polar bear attacks, audiobooks & Dateline Podcasts. I like google scholar, casetext, medium, wordpress, livejournal, blogger, unsplash, pexels, pixabay, pinterest, instagram, facebook, X, tumblr, amazon, eBay, shadowlands (for places that are haunted), reading, greek mythology, animal shows, National Geographic, the metaphysical, food, camping, fitness, weightlifting, nutrition, health, gua sha, face rollers, beauty, fashion, tai chi, yoga, YouTube (listening to vanlifers and people living in their vehicles), road tripping, computers, internet and creating videos. I also like long drives & deserted back roads. Work consists of scouting for investment properties and rehabbing/remodeling those properties for my employer. We also remodel old boats and restore classic cars. ******Visit my blogs at https://rachelholbertjonespage.com (Diverse & Wickedly Crazed Diary) that I’m changing to revolve around mostly haunted, abandoned places and occasionally focus on personal posts having to do with my homeless situation; https://xie-qi.blogspot.com (Rachel X’s Secret Diary) focused on my homeless situation; https://sassygrrl32x.blogspot.com is social media type posts in a blog format; https://medium.com/@sassygrrl32a is mostly reviews; https://sassygrrl32.livejournal.com is a social media type blog; https://rachelholbertjones10.blogspot.com has some links to YT videos and personal posts; https://rachelholbertjones.wordpress.com is my business blog, https://rachelholbertjones.weebly.com is my crazy and contentious blog and https://youtube.com/sassygrrl32.
